Japan travel is evolving faster than ever — and at Japan Junket, we’re committed to staying at the very heart of it.

Last week, we had the privilege of attending the Sydney Roadshow hosted by the Japan National Tourism Organization— one of the most important annual events connecting Australian travel specialists directly with regional tourism boards, accommodation providers, transport companies, and hands-on experience operators from across Japan.

Held in Sydney, the roadshow brought together an incredible lineup of passionate local experts, giving us the chance to build deeper relationships and uncover brand-new experiences we can weave into future itineraries for our travellers.

And honestly? It was one of our most exciting industry days yet.

Building Meaningful Local Connections Across Japan

While online research is helpful, nothing compares to sitting down with the people who actually run the experiences — the family-owned ryokans, the regional guides, the craft workshops, the rural tourism boards, and the small local operators who give Japan its heart and soul.

These conversations allow us to negotiate exclusive perks, secure priority bookings, and create the kind of personalised, authentic experiences that simply can’t be found on big booking platforms.

Attending the JNTO Roadshow isn’t just about networking — it directly benefits every Japan Junket client.

Because of the relationships we built, we’re now working on:

✔️ New regional experiences and day tours
✔️ Exclusive local partnerships and perks
✔️ Unique cultural workshops
✔️ Hard-to-find boutique stays
✔️ Rural and seasonal itineraries
✔️ Special supplier rates and inclusions

All of which will soon be woven into our custom itineraries.

If you’ve been dreaming about exploring beyond Tokyo and Kyoto — think mountain villages, coastal towns, sake breweries, artisan workshops, and slower-paced countryside adventures — we’ve got some incredible new options coming your way.

A Special Surprise from Ehime

One particularly lovely highlight of the day came courtesy of Ehime Prefecture.

We were lucky enough to win a raffle prize from their stand — a beautiful bottle of Nikitatsu 2025 Sake, a refined local brew that perfectly showcases Ehime’s craftsmanship and regional flavours.

It was such a thoughtful gift and a wonderful reminder of the warmth and generosity that regional Japan is known for.

Moments like these make these events feel less like trade shows and more like genuine community gatherings — and it’s exactly the kind of local connection we love sharing with our travellers when we design itineraries through Shikoku and beyond.

What This Means for Japan Junket Travelers

At Japan Junket, we believe great travel planning comes from real relationships, not just booking engines.

That’s why we regularly attend events like this — to meet partners in person, understand their stories, and ensure every recommendation we make is backed by firsthand knowledge and trusted local connections.

It’s all part of how we create thoughtful, seamless, deeply personal journeys through Japan.

And after this year’s roadshow, we’re more excited than ever for what’s ahead.
